Hot Tips for a Happy Wedding: Keep It Simple (But Make It Yours)

Here’s something I’ve learned from years of celebrating love with incredible couples — and I promise, it’s gold.
If your guests have something cold in their hand, something delicious on their plate, and music floating through the air, they’re happy. Genuinely. That’s the magic formula.
You don’t need to overthink it. No one wants to stand around hungry, thirsty, and wondering what’s happening next. People feel good when they’re comfortable, well-fed, and able to soak up the vibe. That could mean Aperol spritzes and canapés, cold beers and tacos, or your Nan’s sausage rolls and a bottle of bubbles. If it tastes good and feels easy, it’s perfect.
I’ve been to weddings where the playlist was just a shared Spotify list and the food came from a local food truck — and they were some of the best parties I’ve ever witnessed. What mattered most? That people felt welcome, relaxed, and like they were part of something special.
That said — if you are going to invest in something a little extra, do it in a way that really feels you. Maybe that’s hiring your favourite local band to play live under the stars. Maybe it’s a killer grazing table that becomes the centrepiece of your afternoon. Maybe it’s a custom cocktail inspired by your first date (hello spicy margarita!). It doesn’t have to be fancy — just meaningful.
Put your energy into creating moments people will remember — the way your ceremony made them cry and laugh in the same breath, the way your niece twirled on the dance floor, the way your love was so you.
Because truly? The best weddings aren’t the fanciest. They’re the ones filled with heart, warmth, and that good kind of chaos where everything feels alive.
So keep it simple. Keep it joyful. Keep it you.
