Eloping in Cairns: Just You, Your Love, and a Bit of Magic

Thinking of skipping the big wedding and doing something a little more low-key, a little more you? You're in good company. Eloping is no longer about running off in secret — it’s about stripping it back to what really matters: you, your person, and a moment that’s completely your own.

And honestly? Cairns is the dream place to do it.

Picture this:

🔥 Or a whisky toast for two at Three Wolves, hidden down a laneway in the heart of Cairns

No big production, no pressure — just adventure, love, and a killer backdrop.

Favourite Elopement Spots in Cairns & Beyond

Here are a few stunning spots that couples (and celebrants like me) absolutely love for elopements:

Palm Cove Beach Soft golden sand, swaying palms, and the sun rising over the ocean. It’s peaceful, magical, and has a just-the-two-of-you kind of feel, especially early in the morning.📍 More about Palm Cove

Millaa Millaa Falls One of the most iconic waterfalls in Queensland. Lush, misty, and seriously romantic — perfect for vows with a little splash of drama (and maybe an actual splash if you take a dip after).

The Daintree Rainforest Old, wild, and deeply peaceful. Whether you're in a hidden eco-lodge or standing barefoot under the canopy, it’s the kind of place that makes everything feel big and beautiful and full of meaning.

Three Wolves, Cairns City For lovers of moody lighting, killer cocktails, and cosy vibes. Eloping doesn’t have to mean a mountaintop — it can mean your favourite little whisky bar at golden hour.

Bonus: Treat Yourself Pair your elopement with a celebratory dinner at one of our best local restaurants — Nu Nu Restaurant (right on the beach) or Ochre in the city are both amazing picks for an intimate meal with top-notch food and wine.

What You Need to Elope in Queensland

Eloping is easy and beautiful — but yep, there’s still a tiny bit of legal stuff to take care of:

  • You’ll need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before the day.

  • And you’ll need two witnesses at the ceremony.

Travelling from interstate or overseas? Don’t stress — I can help arrange your witnesses. Whether it’s my husband, your photographer, or a couple of kind locals, we’ll make it easy.

P.S. Have you heard about my Tiny Tuesdays? If you're thinking of eloping or doing a legals-only ceremony on a Tuesday, you’ll get 10% off. It’s perfect for couples who just want to make it official in a simple, sweet, no-fuss way — without the weekend price tag.

Eloping Doesn’t Mean Missing Out

You can still have all the good stuff:

  • Handwritten vows that make you both tear up

  • A mini ceremony full of heart and humour

  • A beautiful bouquet from a local florist

  • Photos to treasure (I’ve got some incredible local photographers I can recommend!)

  • A cheeky post-vow swim or a first dance under the stars

Whether it’s barefoot on the beach or sipping margaritas in a bar, it’s about doing what feels right for you.

So if you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s laid-back, meaningful, and soaked in tropical magic — eloping in Cairns could be exactly what you’re looking for.

And if you want someone who knows the area, can guide you through the legal bits, and will 100% cheer you on while you do it your way — I’d love to help.

Let’s make it official. 💛
