Cocktails, Kombis & Cold Ones: Epic Wedding Bars in FNQ

If you ask me, one of the best ways to elevate your wedding (without overcomplicating it) is with a great mobile bar. And lucky for us, Cairns and surrounds have some bloody fabulous ones.

Think charming vintage vans, clever cocktails on tap, and bartenders who actually bring the vibe — not just the booze.

Mobile bars don’t just keep everyone hydrated and happy — they help set the tone. They're a fun, visual feature, a practical win, and often one of the most loved parts of the day. Win, win, win.

So if you're planning a Far North Queensland wedding or elopement and want drinks done right, here’s a list of some local legends you should know.

My Favourite Mobile Bars in Cairns & FNQ

An absolute icon. Housed in a beautifully restored vintage truck, The Bedford Bar brings timeless style with serious cocktail credentials. It’s elegant, classic, and a little bit luxe — perfect for garden weddings, rustic barns, or beachfront celebrations.

Exactly what it sounds like — a mobile bar that brings the party. Colourful, cheeky, and full of personality, The Fun Aunty is ideal for couples who want to keep things laid-back but still look amazing doing it. Think killer cocktails, neon signs, and a playlist that gets everyone moving.

Classy, coastal, and full of charm. Based in Port Douglas, this sweet vintage van is the perfect pick for those luxe tropical weddings where you want something a little bit extra. It’s elegant, airy, and very on-brand for beachside ceremonies or villa celebrations.

Elegant and understated, Audrey is a gorgeous vintage caravan bar that adds charm without stealing the spotlight. She’s perfect for intimate weddings, backyard elopements, or anywhere you want a personal, polished touch.

Craft beer on tap in a retro Kombi? Yes please. Kombi Keg is a local fave for good reason — it’s a real crowd-pleaser. With self-serve taps and ice-cold brews, it keeps guests happy and the vibe chill. Bonus: it photographs beautifully.

Signature Cocktails: A Little Detail That Guests Love

Choosing a signature cocktail is one of those small-but-memorable touches. It adds personality, simplifies the drink menu, and often becomes a talking point.

One of my favourite weddings did this perfectly. The couple kept it simple with beer and wine — and then went all in on a DIY gin & tonic bar. They had fresh herbs, cucumber, dried citrus, fancy tonic water, and a couple of different gins. It was relaxed, creative, and felt so them.

A few tips if you're thinking about doing the same:

  • Choose something meaningful: Maybe it’s the first drink you shared, or a twist on your go-to.

  • Keep it seasonal: Tropical fruit in summer (think mango margaritas or watermelon spritz), something warm and spicy for winter (like a dark and stormy).

  • Give it a name: Something fun or personal. Even a little in-joke.

Need inspo? Most mobile bar teams will happily help you create your perfect drinks list.

Tips for Booking a Mobile Bar

  • Book early: These beauties get snapped up quickly, especially in peak season.

  • Check logistics: Flat ground, power access, and space for set-up are key — check with your venue before you lock anything in.

  • Understand what's included: Some bars are BYO alcohol with service provided, others are fully licensed. Make sure you know what you're getting.

  • Style it your way: Many bars offer styling options or work with your florist/stylist to make it all look gorgeous.

Drinks With Heart

A mobile bar adds a heap of fun to your day — but it also adds flow, comfort, and that sense of ahhhh, let’s celebrate as soon as the ceremony’s done.

Whether you’re planning a full wedding or an intimate backyard elopement, having someone fabulous behind the bar is one of those little things that makes a big difference.
